I got to thinking about trying to use the fact the figures are on black discs as a part of the sculpt, this brought me to Magik, one of my favorite characters and someone the disc actually works for. My New Mutants team desperately needed some more mobility, so I decided on a Magik with Stepping Circle mod. I've seen a few mods of a similar theme, but most have the circle floating next to Magik. In the comics, the stepping circle was a ring of fire that came up around the people being teleported, and I wanted to capture that flavor. I'm using a V Blink dial for the moment, until a better dial is made.
The ring of flames is hot glue, colored on with a yellow sharpie. The figure herself is mostly Kid Quantum, with a head from Blink and some added hair. The sword comes from a Ringwraith from the LOTR minis game, which makes a very nice Soulsword. She just needs exploit weakness to be proper.
Cannonball, when actually made, had his unfortunate costume from X-Force. This fig is that same Cannonball without the Liefeld pouches and a new head from Nightcrawler. The ears were rounded a little, but the head works really well as Cannonball is frequently drawn with a ridiculously tall head.
Really simple little mod here. When Dani Moonstar joined the New Mutants, she refused to give up her hide boots and belt that stood for her Cheyenne heritage. Whoever was sculpting this fig forgot this, and put her in the standard New Mutant Uniform. It's a really easy mod to repaint her boots and shave down the X-Belt and paint on a series of grey circles. A small step toward greater comic book accuracy.
Magma drybrushed with a little red and yellow to give her more texture. Maybe I'll do a non-fire form mod at some point. Eyes and mouth were painted white, as they are in the comic.
In the early New Mutants, Wolfsbane transformed into a wolf. The sculpt from Infinity Challenge was more from her X-Factor days, so I replaced her with a Dire Wolf from Horrorclix, repainted brown. Check it.

Group Photo of the New Mutants, including Cypher and Sunspot who don't have an entries here yet as I'm not that pleased with how they came out. They cost about 500 points to field and the highest printed damage is a 3. Truly a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield.
