Elm City Waltz Beginner Dance Lessons
Before each of our waltz evenings, we will offer short introductory
lessons in the basic rotary waltz and the one-step. Lessons will be
taught by social dance historian and teacher Susan de Guardiola.
Rotary Waltz:
the original turning waltz of the early to mid 19th
century characterized by continuous turning to the right; today,
versions of this waltz are popular in the vintage (historical)
and traditional dance communities.
One-Step:
the easiest couple dance ever - if you can walk, you can one-step!
This was one of the most popular dances of the first two decades of the
20th century, immediately preceding the creation of the foxtrot and other
modern ballroom dances.
